extracting fonts to use for scrapbooking and I do not know what to do after that?

I have downloaded free fonts , I use windows xp, and extracted them and they are in a folder but I do not know how to use each letter for scrapbooking use. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much

Simply copy the font into your C:WindowsFont folder and it will be available to use as a selectable font from any Windows application. Make sure you copy the fontname.ttf (where “fontname” is the name of the font you downloaded and extracted) file and nothing else.
